How to Backup and Restore Google Chrome Bookmarks

Here are a few different ways to back up and restore bookmarks in Google Chrome

Sign Into Chrome to Sync Bookmarks

To restore bookmarks via sync bookmarks in Google Chrome, follow steps 1 - 5

  1. On your computer, open Chrome



2) Click People icon in the upper right hand corner



3) Click Turn on sync



4) Enter your email address and click Next



5) Enter your email password and click Next

  • The next screen may prompt for 2-factor authentication if you have it enabled.



6) Click Link data





Backup Chrome Bookmarks to html file

  1. On your computer, open Chrome



2) At the top right, click More may look like or



3) Select Bookmarks and then Bookmark Manager



4) At the top, click More



5) Click Export Bookmarks



6) Be sure to save your bookmarks somewhere easy to find, like the Desktop and name them something easy to remember, like chrome_bookmarks_ and_todays_date and click Save





Import Bookmarks Directly From Another Browser

  1. On your computer, open Chrome



2) At the top right, click More may look like or



3) Select Settings



4) Select Import Bookmarks and Settings



5) Select the browser you’d like to import from, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, and click Import





Import Bookmarks From html file

  1. On your computer, open Chrome



2) At the top right, click More may look like or



3) Select Bookmarks and then Bookmark Manager



4) At the top, click More



5) Click Import Bookmarks



6) Select your bookmarks file and click Open

  • If you followed above it should be on the Desktop named something like chrome_bookmarks_3_27_18
